History: Our vision of Care and Responsibility.
The establishment of Jiwasraya has been through a long history. It all started with NILLMIJ, Nederlandsch Indiesche Levensverzekering en Liffrente Maatschappij van 1859, on December 31, 1859. The first life insurance in Indonesia (it was Dutch Indies) was established based on Notarial Deed of William Hendry Herklots No. 185.
In 1957, the Dutch life insurance companies having business location in Indonesia experienced nationalization following the implementation of Indonesian economy program for the country. On December 17, 1960, NILLMIJ van 1859 was nationalized based on Government Regulation No. 23 of the year 1958 and changed its name into PT Perusahaan Pertanggungan Djiwa Sedjahtera.
Then based on Government Regulation No. 214 of the year 1961, dated 1 January 1961, 9 (nine) of the Dutch life insurance companies with NILLMIJ van 1859 as the core was merged into Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwa Eka Sedjahtera.
About 4 (four) years later or on January 1, 1965, the Decree of Minister PPP No. BAPN 1-3-24 confirmed the change of name from Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwa Eka Sedjahtera into Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwa Djasa Sedjahtera.
On year later, on January 1, 1966, based on Government Regulation No.40 of the year 1965, a new state owned company called Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwasraja was established following the merger of Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwa Sedjahtera.
With the issuance of the Decree of Minister of Insurance No. 2/SK/66 dated 1 January 1966, PT Pertanggungan Djiwa Dharma Nasional was managed by the Government and was also integrated into Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwasraja.
Based on Government Regulation No. 33 of the year 1972 dated 23 March 1973, and Notarial Deed of Mohamad Ali No. 12 of the year 1973, the status of Perusahaan Negara Asuransi Djiwasraya was changed into Perusahaan Perseroan (Persero) Asuransi Jiwasraya with some changes and addition from Notarial Deed of Sri Rahayu No. 839 of the year 1984 and the Appendix of State Gazette No. 67 dated 21 August 1984 to the Article of Association, thus confirming the establishment of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya.
Referring to the Law No. 1 of the year 1995, the Company experienced some changes and addition from Notarial Deed of Imas Fatimah SH, No. 10 dated 12 May 1988 and Amendment Act No. 19 dated 8 September 1998 which was announced on the Appendix of State Gazette No. 1671 dated 16 March 2000 and Amendment Act from Notary Sri Rahayu H.Prasetyo, SH, No. 03 dated 14 July 2003, into PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero).
The Article of Association of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) has experienced some amendments, the latest from Notarial Deed of Netty Maria Machdar, SH, No. 74 dated 18 November 2009 as mandated in the Department of Justice and Human Rights of Republic of Indonesia’s Announcement of Amendment in the Article of Association No. AHU-AH.01.10.01078 dated 15 January 2010, and Deed No. 155 dated 29 August 2008 which was approved by Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Republic of Indonesia in his Decree No. AHU-96890.AH.01.02 of 2008 dated 16 December 2008.

Due to tighter global competition, Jiwasraya continues improving all service lines to shape them more efficiently and productively while optimizing the existing potentials. In the meantime, Jiwasraya never surrenders product innovation through smart calculation and benchmark (new product development). The Company also directs the human resources and energy to any important lines to boost productivity of the performance and target realization. Marketing aspect serves as frontline of the sales supported with promotional activities, and better qualification, improved skilled and bigger number of agents to strengthen penetration to the less explored areas and segments. Jiwasraya also made serious investment to enhance capacity of the information technology so as to boost the acceleration, reliability and accuracy of service delivery.
